No not the temperature outside but the percentage of people trained in Kingston Trust! This converts to over 2,550 employees who have attended Fire Awareness Training.
Yes it is True!
Returns show that over 2,550 members of staff have attended Mandatory Fire Training in the first 12 months alone.
Universal Safety Consultants were asked to carry out a survey of current fire safety standards including training and policies. Subsequently USC were asked to improve standards all-round.
The training is carried out as part of both Clinical and Non Clinical Training Days as well as in Departments.
Evacuation drills, practical and walk through exercises, have also been carried out with staff and these are in addition to the sessions above and are not included in the figures.
Following all training, staff are required to complete an anonymous feedback form which indicates that training is considered by staff to be excellent. Some of the comments received:
“The training was very relevant to the hospital excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!”
“A vast improvement on the previous trainers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Fire Warden numbers at the Trust have also increased significantly though there, as always with Fire Wardens, is still some way to go. However in the first 12 months these have tripled and, with the introduction of a quarterly check sheet, the Fire Wardens now regularly inspect their own department’s wards etc and have become a front line in highlighting local fire issues.
Where’s all this happening?
Kingston Hospital NHS Trust
YES the figures are genuine, as all training is recorded by the Trust themselves.
“This is achievable in any hospital where there is a clear commitment by managers to work in partnership with us to achieve outstanding results. We are grateful to Kingston Hospital for giving us the opportunity.” Gil Durrant MD USC
