Train The Trainer (People Handling) Course

Introduction

A four day intensive course which will give delegates the knowledge and practical skills required to teach others to handle people safely and to carry out manual handling risk assessments.The course is interactive, and the teaching style varies from formal lectures to group work and practical hands on techniques. Certificates will be awarded to delegates who successfully pass a written assessment on the last day of the course.The course is only available to be taught in-house at a time and place to suit your organisation.  

Class Size 

There is a maximum of 12 places on this course and a minimum of 3 

Aim 

• To provide the advanced knowledge and practical skills which manual handling trainers need to undertake the effective teaching of others in the safe moving and handling of people. 
• To provide delegates with the knowledge to undertake moving and handling risk assessments and to supervise staff who are involved in the handling of people and loads

• Practical demonstration of equipment and techniques

DAY 2 

• Ergonomics
• Risk Assessment, including
  • Importance of risk management
  • Role of the risk assessor
  • How to identify hazards
  • Introduction to risk assessment forms
  • Accident and incident monitoring and reporting
  • Ergonomics and moving and handling
  • How to organize risk assessments
  • Risk assessment forms
  • Generic and individual risk assessments
  • Designing and implementing safe systems of work
  • Practical risk assessment exercises
  • Reviewing and monitoring risk assessments 
• Record keeping 
• Safe Lifting Principles – including all the features to be remembered when moving and inanimate load 
• Inanimate load practical

Learning Outcomes 

At the end of the course the delegates will: 

• Have knowledge about Manual Handling legislation
• Have an awareness of the structure of the back and important considerations concerning back care
• Be confident to carry out Manual Handling risk assessments
• Have practiced a broad range of Manual Handling techniques which can be taught to colleagues in the workplace
• Be confident to undertake training sessions in manual handling theory and practice
